The Unpacked-Packed Bag

Is it just us or do other couples have a half packed bag at the end of their bed?

I like to think it’s just him but I know I am just as guilty. It’s got to the point now where I have two versions of everything just so I don’t end up mid hair wash and having to run the gauntlet of the landing naked to get my shampoo and conditioner from my weekend bag. Laminate flooring and soap suds aren’t a great combination for someone who lives home alone!
Whether it’s his weekend to travel or mine, we take the same bag with probably the same clothes (washed of course) and toiletry set as the 20 weekends before it. Those close to us could probably guess its contents like that episode of Friends.
On the plus side we are prepared for anything at any time. The downside we look like paupers who can’t even afford a new t shirt from Primark.
When I think about it, it’s quite a sad that we pretty much live our lives out of a suitcase. Craig can be home for a month and still never fully unpack. And without getting too Dr Phil, this in turn never makes me fully adjust to him being there. (Who knew I would long for a man to use a coat hanger so much!) We have actually had a massive argument over it once, bigger than the additional trip hazard and mess it can make – but seriously we did.
I’m hoping that after 7 years we have gone past the point of this being some awful sign that one of us is going to run away in the middle of the night and that we are, in actual fact, incredibly lazy/ practical people (whichever way you look at it). Nevertheless we are still living with a trip hazard!
